Our group takes the first step toward intelligent TLC analysis
In April 2021, our group took the first step toward intelligent chromatographic analysis: using an Arduino board and a CNC shield, we precisely controlled four stepper motors on the X/Y/Z axes via four A4988 modules, enabling automated TLC spotting and analysis after column chromatography. We also introduced computer vision and used a Laplacian-of-Gaussian algorithm to intelligently recognize and interpret TLC plates.
This was the initial prototype of our “automation + intelligent interpretation” chromatography workflow, from which the later TLC data-collection platform and column-chromatography automation platform evolved.
